ZHS swim team- Sept 22, 2018 Meet Results. 

The Bronco swim team continues to impress!

  • Women- 5th out of 10 teams; Men- 3rd out of 11 teams; 24 personal bests times achieved!
  • Women’s 200 free and 200 medley relays placed 3rd.
  • Men’s 200 medley relay was 3rd and their 200 freestyle had a dominating 1st place finish.
  • 8 swimmers placed in the top 8 of their events. Congrats to Tristan Vessell, Logan Ladnier, Aiden Bowen, Abby Yoes, Joshua Wittig, Baska Jasicova, Jack Dunford, and Ella Thompson
  • 4 swimmers finished in the top 3 of their events. Huge shout out to Hudson Trotti – 3rd in 500 freestyle, Karlie Porter- 3rd 100 freestyle, Aiden Peterkin – 2nd in 200 freestyle and 3rd in 100 butterfly, Eric King, 1st in 100 freestyle and 1st in 100 breaststroke.
  • State qualifying times were posted by Aiden Peterkin in the 100 butterfly, Karlie Porter in the 50 free, and Eric King in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

State Championships 2017

The ZHS Swim Team competed in the State Championship Swim Meet on Nov. 17-18.

The girls team finished in 13th place

and the boys were 20th out of 32 teams.

All 6 relay teams placed in the top 16.

Two of the girls relays placed 10th overall.

Outstanding individual swims were turned in by

Karlie Porter where she finished 4th in the 200 free and 8th in the 500 free.

Eric King achieved a new school record in the 200 IM placing 14th while finishing 17th in his 100 fly.

Mallory Mankins was 20th in her 100 breaststroke.

It was a great season.

Coach J, ZHS, and the City of Zachary are so proud of all the team’s accomplishments.

There were many great swims made throughout the weekend, and numerous personal bests were achieved. 

An additional congrats to

 Karlie Porter

who made her 5th state cut of the season in the 100 freestyle leading off the 400 free relay.

The Broncos are now preparing for the state swim meet to be held in Sulphur Nov 17-18.

2017 Kick Off Meet – 9/9/17

The ZHS swim team competed in the 2017 kick off meet this past weekend at Crawfish Aquatics in Baton Rouge.

The meet was comprised of 13 local high school teams.

The broncos had a fantastic meet all around with almost all swimmers posting personal bests in their events.

The ladies finished with a total of 210 points to earn a 2nd place team finish.

The men combined for 155 points to take 6th

Top 8 finishes in individual events included

1st place in the 50 free by freshman Abby Yoes

1st place in the 100 fly by sophomore Karlie Porter

2nd place in the 100 fly by sophomore Eric King

3rd place in the 100 fly by sophomore Aiden Peterkin

and 8th place in the 100 back by sophomore Logan Ladnier

Karlie Porter and Eric King both swam their way to a Division 1 state qualifying time in the 100 yard butterfly.

Zachary’s relays placed very well.

Girls 200 free relay A team (Abby Yoes, Karlie Porter, Mallory Mankins, and Jamie Stagg) placed 2nd

while the B team (Lynndon Rushing, Ella Thompson, Hudson Trotti, and Taylor Pomeroy) finished 3rd

The girls 400 free relay A team (Jamie Stagg, Lynndon Rushing, Karlie Porter, and Maddie Beasley) finished 2nd

The A relay for the bronco men brought home the win in the 200 free relay (Eric King, Aiden Peterkin, Josh Witting, and Mikey Varnado)

While the 400 free relay (Eric King, Aiden Peterkin, Josh Wittig, and Logan Ladnier) finished 3rd

Coach Julie Johnson is extremely proud of everyone’s hard work and is looking forward to a great season. 

The bronco swim team will compete again at 7:30 on September 23 in Baton Rouge.

Congratulations – an outstanding weekend at the CCSL Championships

Congratulations to the ZHS swim team on an outstanding weekend at the CCSL Championships (Oct 29) this weekend.

The boys finished 3rd and the girls finished 8th.

Combined, the team finished 4th overall out of 21 teams!

This is the best overall finish ever for our school. 

  • Top 16 finishers are Aly Clement, Mallory Mankins, Karlie Porter, Hannah Partin, Ellen Manuel, Jamie Stagg, Lyndon Rushing, Anne Marie Olson, Schyler Mire, Austin Wittig, Collin Dupuy, Eric King, Aiden Peterkin, Logan Ladiner, Mikey Varnado, and Jesse Gulledge.
  • Also, congratulations to Collin Dupuy for his state qualifying times in the 200 Individual Medley and the 50 freestyle and Schyler Mire for his state qualifying times in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke.
  • All swimmers recorded personal best time!  Next up is the LHSAA State Swim Meet on November 18-19 in Sulphur.
